Tokyo Tails

Inspired by her time living in Japan and an ode to her love to pets, Marie Obegi’s series Tokyo Tails was created over the course of a year and presented in a solo show at Maison Pan London.

Her meticulously crafted oil paintings resemble stills from an imaged movie, telling the deadly story of two rival gangs (cats and dogs) vying to assert control over Tokyo.

The private view on 24 October featured an interactive installation that existed for one night only. Specially conceived for the show, Osakats Private Drinking Club was a secret room resembling the tiny bars found in the backstreets of Shinjuku, where invited guests were served Tokyo Tails-themed cocktails by a mysterious bartender.
